Team Ecosse is a Scottish-based racing team, formed in 1996 to compete in the Internet Amiga F1GP Championship. After a hiatus that lasted several years, the team returned to action in 2005, competing in the V8Thunder online championship, using Papyrus' NASCAR Racing 2003 Season simulation. The team has had a great deal of success at V8Thunder, with many race wins and championships. In the Winter 2006 season, David West was crowned Lites champion and Team Ecosse won the Lites team championship for the second time. This feat was surpassed in the Winter 2007 season, with Derek Howe winning the Inters title, Team Ecosse winning the team championship in both Trucks and Inters, and Steve Smith winning rookie honours in Inters and Trophy. In 2007, beginning to look beyond oval racing, the team was restructured into two divisions - stock car and open wheel. A touring car division was added in 2008 as the team became more willing to embrace different racing disciplines. A fourth division will be launched in 2009 - sports car. The team is now over twelve years old. The team currently races at V8Thunder, Race2Play, Gentlemens Racing Club and ICS. In the past the team has competed online at PRS, BeRacing and NTRL, and Amiga F1GP and GP2 offline racing leagues. |

01-01-2009 - V8Thunder Another season has concluded, and Team Ecosse has come away with another batch of Gentleman Racer Awards, winning half of those available to the team. Star man was Thomas Hendrickson, winning the Gold award in Trophy and Silver in Trucks. The ever-dependable Derek Howe won the third award, taking Gold in Trucks. Congratulations to both of you! 16-12-2008 - Gentlemens Racing Club After nine round of intense touring car action, the GRCL5 championship has come to an end. Team Ecosse proved that they can compete with the best in Division 2, finishing second overall, an improvement on last season's third place finish. While the team is delighted to be runners-up to Hill Motorsports Alfa, it could (and perhaps should) have been better. Indeed, going into the final race of the season, Team Ecosse was leading the team championship. The pressure proved too much for Alan and Erik, however, and both ended their season in flames! Individually, the two drivers were fast for most of the season, but struggled at some tracks. Alan finished eighth overall, with one pole, one win - BMW's only win - and ten Top 10s to his name. Erik finished just behind his teammate in ninth, with four podiums and ten Top 10s. The team is now looking forward to GRCL6 and trying out the new cars for the new season. While it is likely the team will stick with the BMW, nothing is guaranteed. The opening race saw Alan line up second on the grid, with Erik four places behind him. A great start for both drivers resulted in Alan being first and Erik third by Turn 1! The lead was soon relinquished, however, as Mark Tiller was in unstoppable form in his SEAT. After that, it was a battle between the two Team Ecosse drivers and Jan Haak for the remaining podium positions. Starting the final lap, Alan was looking good for second, but Erik was running fourth having been passed a couple of laps earlier by Jan. Amazingly, though, the race leader got tangled up with a backmarker on the final corner of the final lap, which let Alan through to win! Not only that, Erik was also promoted to third, making it two teammates on the podium. A fantastic effort from the team. The feature race didn't go quite as well. Erik, in particular, struggled after a mistake in qualifying, but eventually managed to bring his BMW home in the final points-paying position. Alan's race was also far from perfect, and he finished 7th. All in all, though, a good night for the team, and one which shows Team Ecosse can just about compete with the best in Division 2. In practise Morten was at the front, together with Steve and Thomas, which suggested a good race for the Team Ecosse drivers. David and Davey struggled with their cars during practice but by the end were looking pretty good. However, Davey took a risk and made last minute changes in Happy Hour which resulted in rev limiter problems on the straights. The other Team Ecosse drivers were at the back of the field, patiently waiting for the right time to commence their move to the front. Thomas managed to stay there and eventually took 2nd place from Martin Buchan in a thrilling fight! Davey managed to hold the vMaxSR drivers behind him and ended up 4th, despite his problems. Unfortunately for Steve, his engine blew during a restart. | |
